Our review
Analysis written by Valentin for Minecraft Hosts from the plans and information published by PixelForge, checked on October 10, 2026. This is not a hands-on test.
Verdict
PixelForge is a free, non-commercial project run by Remii IT Solutions in Austria. Its free Minecraft server is generous for the category: 3 GB of RAM, 2 cores and 10 GB of NVMe, Java or Bedrock, with SFTP and a modpack installer. You renew it by hand once every 7 days; miss the deadline by more than 24 hours and the server is deleted, with only a backup kept for 7 days. Only Germany is free, and the service comes with no uptime guarantee.
Pros
3 GB of RAM, 2 cores and 10 GB of NVMe on the free server
Renewal only once a week (7 days of runtime per renewal)
Java and Bedrock, with Paper, Purpur, Fabric, Forge and NeoForge
SFTP, schedules and a free yourname.pixelforge.gg subdomain
Sleeping servers wake up on their own when a player joins
Limitations
Server deleted 24 hours after a missed renewal (final backup kept 7 days)
Only Germany is free; Singapore costs PixelCoins
Queue when a region is full
Support through Discord tickets only, no guaranteed response time
One server per account; VPNs and multiple accounts are banned
Best for
Friends in Europe who want a free server without renewing every day: one click every 7 days
Small modded servers: 3 GB of RAM, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge and Modrinth modpacks
Mixed groups: native Bedrock servers, or Java with Geyser
Less suited if
Heavy modpacks: 3 GB, extra RAM only through temporary PixelCoins boosts
Players in the Americas: no free location outside Germany
A server you can forget about: deleted 24 hours after a missed renewal
Pricing and billing
Deploying and renewing a server is free, with no payment details asked. There is no paid plan: extras (an extra server slot, temporary RAM and CPU boosts, disk space, backup slots, ports and the Singapore location) are paid in PixelCoins, a site currency earned through offerwalls, rewarded ads, minigames and Discord activity, which cannot be bought. Optional donations go through Ko-fi and unlock nothing.
Performance
Every free server gets 3 GB of RAM, 2 CPU cores and 10 GB of Gen 4 NVMe storage on high-clock AMD Ryzen CPUs (model not named), with 2 network ports. Modpack servers get the same 3 GB; heavy packs need a temporary 14-day RAM boost bought with PixelCoins. Empty Minecraft servers go to sleep after a delay that depends on load and wake up in 20 to 40 seconds when a player joins; support can exempt a server from sleeping for free. Germany has two free nodes; when a region is full, a queue applies.
Minecraft features
Java servers run Paper, Purpur, Spigot, Vanilla, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, Folia or the Velocity proxy, from 1.8 (1.7.10 for Forge) to 1.21. Bedrock servers are offered natively, and Java servers can welcome Bedrock players through Geyser and Floodgate. The in-house panel includes a live console, file manager, SFTP, schedules, sub-users, one-click Modrinth plugins and modpacks, a free yourname.pixelforge.gg subdomain and PixelShield DDoS filtering. One backup slot is included, stored off-server.
Support and guarantees
Support goes through tickets in the PixelForge Discord, on a best-effort basis with no guaranteed response time. The SLA states there is no binding uptime guarantee and no compensation for downtime or data loss, and asks users to keep their own backups. The terms allow one account per person, ban VPNs and proxies, and require users to be at least 16 or have parental consent. The operator named in the imprint is Remii IT Solutions, under Austrian law.
Plans
Prices as published by the host, checked on October 10, 2026.
Checked on 2026-10-10 on pixelforge.gg: home page, help centre articles, comparison page, terms of service, SLA and imprint (the site is a JavaScript application; texts were read from its code).
Free server: 3 GB RAM, 2 CPU cores, 10 GB NVMe and 1 backup slot, the same for modpack servers. The CPU is described as "high-clock AMD Ryzen" without a model. The site description says "no player limits"; the player cap is set in server.properties.
Lifecycle (help centre): 7 days of runtime; Renew unlocks 3 days before expiry and sets a fresh 7 days from the click; an expired server is suspended, archived and deleted 24 hours later; the final backup stays downloadable for 7 days. The comparison page and testimonials mention weekly renewal.
Locations: the home page lists Frankfurt, Amsterdam, London, Singapore, New York and Warsaw with ping values, but the help centre says "Germany: free, two nodes" and Singapore (paid in PixelCoins) are the regions in the deploy wizard. Germany (no city given in the help centre) and Singapore are recorded.
PixelCoins are earned (offerwalls, rewarded ads, minigames, Discord activity, referrals) and cannot be bought or transferred. They pay for an extra permanent server slot, 14-day RAM and CPU boosts, disk space, backup slots, ports and the Singapore location; live prices are not shown on the public pages. A Discord boost gives one extra slot; three servers at most.
Free model: no paid plan; optional donations through Ko-fi unlock nothing. Currency stored as EUR only because a price field is required; no price is charged.
Operator: Remii IT Solutions (imprint under the Austrian E-Commerce Act, contact mail@remii.de), described as a "free, non-commercial game-server hosting project". Founding year not stated.
Rules: one account per person (all linked accounts suspended), no VPN, proxy or Tor, no account sharing, minimum age 16 or parental consent. The SLA gives no binding uptime guarantee and no compensation.
