Our review
Analysis written by Valentin for Minecraft Hosts from the plans and information published by Modrinth Hosting, checked on October 9, 2026. This is not a hands-on test.
Verdict
Modrinth Hosting is the Java-only server service of the Modrinth mod platform. It sells three plans of 4, 6 and 8 GB at 3 USD per GB per month, or 2.50 USD per GB billed quarterly, on shared CPUs described as AMD Ryzen 7950X or 9950X equivalent. Mod and modpack installation is built into Modrinth. During the check all three plans were out of stock, backups were still manual, and the refund window for a full refund was 24 hours.

Best for
Modrinth users: modpacks and mods install directly from the Modrinth platform
Modded Java servers: Fabric, Quilt, Forge and NeoForge, plus Paper and Purpur
Those who pay quarterly: 4 GB for 10 USD a month billed quarterly
Less suited if
You need a server now: all three plans were shown out of stock during the check
You play Bedrock: only Java is hosted, Bedrock players need the Geyser plugin
You want automatic backups: backups are manual for now
Pricing and billing
Monthly prices are 12 USD for 4 GB, 18 USD for 6 GB and 24 USD for 8 GB, or 3 USD per GB. Quarterly billing costs 30, 45 and 60 USD per quarter, which works out to 10, 15 and 20 USD a month. The page advertises a 16% saving, the actual figure is 16.7%. The page shows the quarterly price by default. Prices are in US dollars and no tax status is stated. A custom plan is offered from 5 USD a month (2 GB billed quarterly).
Performance
Servers run on CPUs described as "AMD Ryzen 7950X or 9950X equivalent" with DDR5 memory. The exact model is not guaranteed. On PassMark, the Ryzen 9 7950X scores 4,252 single-thread points and the Ryzen 9 9950X 4,728. Plans get 2, 3 or 4 shared CPUs that can burst to 4, 6 or 8 CPUs during load spikes. Storage is 32, 48 or 64 GB, with the type not stated. More storage is available on request at no extra cost.
Minecraft features
Only Minecraft: Java Edition is hosted, from version 1.2.5 to snapshots, with Vanilla, Fabric, Quilt, Forge, NeoForge, Paper and Purpur. Bedrock players can join through the Geyser plugin. Mods and modpacks from Modrinth install from the same platform. The panel includes a file manager, console, SFTP access, a custom modrinth.gg address, your own domain and up to 15 reserved ports. Each server has 15 off-site backup slots, but backups are manual for now. DDoS protection is included.
Support and guarantees
Support goes through tickets opened from the help centre chat. Hours are not stated. A full refund is given on request within 24 hours of payment. After that, refunds are partial: for unused days if the server was not used, or for the days the server was unusable because of a Modrinth fault. Locations are published by region only (North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, Australia). The operator is Rinth, Inc., a Delaware company.

Checked on 2026-10-09 on modrinth.com/servers (now titled "Modrinth Hosting", formerly Modrinth Servers), the Modrinth billing products API used by that page, the Modrinth Hosting help centre articles (refund policy, backups, Geyser, choosing a plan) and the terms of use.
Monthly prices: the server-rendered page shows the quarterly view ("$10 / month, billed quarterly" for Small, $15 Medium, $20 Large). The "Pay monthly" view is rendered in the browser from Modrinth's billing products (api.modrinth.com/_internal/billing/products): 12, 18 and 24 USD per month, and 30, 45 and 60 USD per quarter. priceMonthly is the monthly price; the quarterly price is recorded as a 3-month commitment offer. The page says "Save 16% with quarterly billing" (the actual saving is 16.7%).
The billing products also contain yearly prices and custom sizes from 2 GB (6 USD a month) to 48 GB (144 USD a month); the page only shows the three plans and a custom plan "Starting at $5 / month" (2 GB billed quarterly). The custom sizes and yearly prices are not recorded.
Stock: during the check, all three plans (Small, Medium, Large) were shown "Out of stock" in the server-rendered page.
Currency and tax: "All prices are listed in United States Dollars (USD)" (FAQ). No VAT or tax statement was found. Status "unknown".
CPU: "AMD Ryzen 7950X or 9950X equivalent, paired with DDR5 memory" (FAQ). The plans have 2, 3 and 4 "Shared CPUs" that burst up to 4, 6 and 8 CPUs under load, hence dedicatedCpu = false and vcores = shared CPU count. Storage: 32, 48 and 64 GB, type not stated; extra storage on request "at no additional cost".
Java only: the page describes hosting for "Minecraft: Java Edition" (versions back to 1.2.5, snapshots included) with Vanilla, Fabric, Quilt, Forge, NeoForge, Paper and Purpur. Bedrock players can join through the Geyser plugin (help article), so bedrock is recorded as false for native Bedrock servers.
Backups: "Every server comes with 15 backups stored securely off-site" (page), but the help article says "Currently, we do not create automatic backups for servers": backups are manual for now. backupCount = 15.
Locations: "North America, Europe, Southeast Asia, and Australia", chosen at purchase; no cities are published, so the location list is empty. DDoS protection is included, "with up to 17 Tbps capacity in some locations". Custom modrinth.gg URL, own domain and up to 15 reserved ports. SFTP access included.
Refunds (help centre): full refund on request within 24 hours of the transaction; after that, partial refund for the remaining days if the server was not used, or for the days the server was unusable because of Modrinth hardware or software. Requests go through a support ticket (chat bubble). refundDays is set to 1.
Company: Rinth, Inc., based in the state of Delaware, United States (terms of use). No founding year is published on the pages checked. Support is reached through the help centre chat, which opens tickets; support hours are not stated (the page says "Reach out to the Modrinth team for help with your server at any time").
